Passau has been disaster many times. These were floods, fires, diseases. Flood statistics have been maintained since 1173.But the medieval city did not cease to exist,and therefore today our guests listen with interest to terrible stories about natural disasters and other unpleasant events. The city also preserved many places that, like silent witnesses, silently and imperceptibly recall the past. The last major flood occurred in 2013. This caused a new flow of tourists. Everyone wanted to see and learn how the locals survive in such conditions. In all the photos, the old city was in the water and from a height it looked terrible. But each time the city was recovering from another disaster.

Today tourists stand in front oft he old Town Hall and carefully examine the flood scale on the corner oft he building. They can hardly believe that the water reaches a mark of several meters. Such floods cause great damage tot he city. Over time Passau received the name „Floating City“.
